sockpuppets@hotmail.comWARNING! I am known to be erratic and unpredictable. Do not let me see this warning or feed me rum. But pay close attention to what I have to say. I know a lot about something that you do not.
If you enjoy my mindless writings, then feel free to add me to your friends list. I'll do the same in turn.
"Reality seems valueless by comparison with the dreams of fevered imaginations...A thirst arises for novelties, unfamiliar pleasures, nameless sensations, all of which lose thier savor once known." -Durkheim
“It is not that people value money more but that they value everything else so much less-not that they are more greedy but that they have no other social values to keep them in check.”
-Dee Hock, former head of Visa
“We buy them [women’s T-shirts] in Sri Lanka for $3 each. Then we bring them over here and sew in washing instructions, which are in French and English. Notice we don’t say the shirts are made in France, but you can infer that if you like. Then we merchandise the hell out of them – we fold them just right on a tasteful tabletop display, and on the wall behind it we hang a huge, gorgeous photograph of a beautiful woman in an exotic locale wearing the shirt. We shoot it so it looks like a million bucks. Then we call it an Expedition T-Shirt, and we sell it for $37. And we sell a lot of them, too.”
-Unnamed VP of merchandising, quoted in Why We Buy by Paco Underhill
"Woe to you! You thieves and imitators of other people's labor and talents. Beware of laying your audacious hand on this artwork."
-Albrecht Durer wrote on the title page of his series of woodblock prints, Life of the Virgin, in 1511
